Bio
Diane Russelavage is an artist with a deep-rooted appreciation for the creative process, inspired by a life lived across the globe. Growing up as an Air Force Brat, Diane lived in many fascinating places, including Rome, Italy, where the weekends were spent exploring narrow mountain roads, wandering through flea markets, and visiting museums and galleries. This early exposure to the arts ignited a lifelong passion for creativity and set the stage for a future in the arts.
After graduating from high school in Hawaii, Diane pursued a degree in studio art at the University of Hawaii and later completed a B.S. in Commercial and Communication Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park. This degree led to a successful career in the advertising industry, where Diane spent several years in creative roles, including 26 years with a prominent Colorado Advertising Agency.
Upon retiring in 2011, Diane returned to the studio arts, reigniting the passion for drawing and painting. Known for an eye for color, texture, and unexpected combinations, Diane seeks to create art that surprises and delights. Whether it’s finding inspiration on a hike or in the aisles of a hardware store, Diane believes that creativity is an infectious force that continuously drives new ideas.
From repurposing discarded tin cans into artful mobiles to incorporating specialty handmade papers to her oil paintings, Diane strives to capture the essence of life through unexpected forms using vivid color and bold expression. As a member of the AOTS, Diane enjoys exchanging ideas with fellow artists and growing in her craft.
